Applying a quality topdress helps to maintain a consistent, smooth playing surface to vastly improve player safety and quality of play.
Overall soil structure is improved by increasing soil aggregation and by the additional of quality compost. This can reduce the bulk density of native soil and maintain particle size distribution on sand-based fields, help reduce compaction and open up drainage channels through the soil. The addition of sand increases the amount of air spaces in the soil and reduces the tendency of the soil to become compacted.
This aids turf recovery between games/usage and helps fields recover after increased traffic or adverse weather, which can help break down thatch buildup by diluting thatch and protect grass crowns as well as holding seed in place and conserve moisture during seeding.
Our 3 Way Topdress Blend is a combination of compost, peat moss and sand, while our 4 Way Topdress Blend is a mix of compost, peat moss, sand and screened loam.
