OVERVIEW

We are a licensed supplier of CU-Structural Soil® in Alberta (also known as CU-Soil®) (U.S. Patent #5,849,069), a soil designed by Cornell University to improve the growth and development of urban trees.

Developed as a way to safely bear pavement loads after compaction and yet still allow root penetration and vigorous tree growth, CU-Structural Soil® is intended for paved sites to provide adequate soil volumes for tree roots under pavements. It may be used under pedestrian mall paving, sidewalks, planting islands, and parking lots.

CU-Structural Soil® is an innovative medium installed under pavement that improves street tree vigor and prevents sidewalk failure, frequent pavement repair, virtually eliminates tripping lawsuits, and greatly reduces the replacement of dead trees every 7–10 years.

Our Sports Topdressing blends are a carefully formulated mix suited to our local climate.

The high organic quantity improves the physical and biological characteristics of the soil as well as improving sports turf quality, playability and safety. As well as improving the playing surface, topdressing also improves sports fields resistance to stress and disease.

Applying a quality topdress helps to maintain a consistent, smooth playing surface to vastly improve player safety and quality of play.

Overall soil structure is improved by increasing soil aggregation and by the additional of quality compost. This can reduce the bulk density of native soil and maintain particle size distribution on sand-based fields, help reduce compaction and open up drainage channels through the soil. The addition of sand increases the amount of air spaces in the soil and reduces the tendency of the soil to become compacted.

This aids turf recovery between games/usage and helps fields recover after increased traffic or adverse weather, which can help break down thatch buildup by diluting thatch and protect grass crowns as well as holding seed in place and conserve moisture during seeding.

Our 3 Way Topdress Blend is a combination of compost, peat moss and sand, while our 4 Way Topdress Blend is a mix of compost, peat moss, sand and screened loam.

Additionally, we can create a custom topdress blend based on specific needs.

One of our specialties is blending soils to meet project specifications, or providing required amendments for existing topsoil piles on sites. Everything we do is based on our years of experience and knowledge relating to bulk soil components and blending in our region and then we verify everything using the best third-party laboratories.

Over the years we have had the pleasure to supply soil mixes for a wide range of projects, from soil-less planting media for interior atriums to manmade "wetland sludge"
